Sunday, a Full Day

After some cooking time in the kitchen Sunday morning, I went out for a hike with Maya, Trooper, and Coco. It was a beautiful day, pleasantly warm and sunny, but most of the ground was still pretty solid from the recent cold weather. Trooper was wanting to go. We didn't break any speed records, but he held up well for over two miles. He got a good brushing when we got home because for some reason he's blowing his coat again now.

Not long after we got home from the hike I took Chester, the chocolate lab mix, up to meet neighbor dog Felix for a play date. Chester loved their yard and after he had explored a bit on his own, the two boys started to play together.

Sunday afternoon was the Green Dogs Puppy Bowl party at Keswick Vineyards. I made cookies and had planned to take Serena but she was limping badly again today. Maya was quite happy to take her place and frankly Maya was easier to handle in that environment than Serena would have been. It was a good turnout and thus a little crowded indoors for a Great Dane. Maya is able to navigate easily in a crowd however, and besides, it was a nice enough day that we mostly sat outside. Maya really has become my go-anywhere dog. She was good with people, kids, and all the other dogs that were there. She sits quietly beside me and if she's ever scared she climbs into my lap.

I'm making a call Monday morning for an appointment to see an orthopedic specialist for Serena. She's in pain and I've got to do something about it. I need to get an early start on my work week this evening.

This is Green Dogs' Ox, or Oxford, a five month
old dobie/rottie pup. Apparently his personality is
just as nice as his appearance. Fortunately, someone
else is fostering him.

He's quite calm and well-behaved for a puppy,
but they said he does act like a puppy at home.
When he's mature, he's going to be a spectacular
looking dog.

That leg looks like a perfectly carved
mahogany lion's paw table leg.
