Sweet Serena

Serena is probably going to need surgery to correct the lameness in her right front shoulder. The good news is that the type of surgery is generally successful. The bad news is that we don't even have a consultation with the surgeon until next Tuesday.

Waiting is awful. Feeling useless while waiting awful. Seeing Sweet Serena get around on three legs without doing anything to help her became unbearable. So off we went to another vet for another opinion and treatment options. No miracles, but confirmation and some comfort. Serena had the first laser treatment that will both precede and follow the surgery. And I have a physical therapy program for her, or for me to follow for her, manipulating the joints in the leg, etc. There are instructions and videos that I haven't looked at closely yet.

Serena was nervous about it all, of course. Lots of people wanted to pet her and love on her, and she allowed it all. She was good with the exam and manipulation of her painful leg. She was good with everything but she was exhausted by it too. She was very happy to get out of there and she hopped into the van on her on once again.

We'll start the physical therapy stuff tomorrow, but at least I've got something to do to try to help her before the surgical consult on Tuesday.

The big orthopedic bed in the exam room was a big hit.

Poor girl! I'm glad you were able to get some meds to tide Serena over. Will be keeping her in my prayers for a quick surgical fix!
