Hammer and Hatchet

Hammer and Hatchet are two yellow labs, both males, siblings, 15 months old. They were surrendered today to Dogs Deserve Better-Blue Ridge, who transferred them to Green Dogs and they came here as fosters. Apparently they started out life as well-loved puppies, but then committed the sin of growing into dogs whereupon they were moved outside and effectively ejected from the family.

Hammer has a cropped tail. Looks like it may have been accidental. That's the easiest way to tell them apart. They saw a vet today for vaccines, probably their first, and they have appointments to be neutered. They are sweet boys, a little shy and scared right now. They've only met Kami so far.

They didn't even like being separated when I
walked one around the other side of the van to
get into the second crate.

Kami is a little overbearing at first, but she
will be good for their confidence and
socialization.

They had no problem eating side-by-side. In fact they
mostly ate from the same bowl.
