No mother left behind

It was two years ago today that I wrote this post about our decision to adopt Della: Della is Home.  It was probably not much of a surprise to anyone, least of all to Della, who had made up her mind to stay the moment she met Serena and had her first run in the pasture. It was like Erika's decision to adopt Killian, obvious to everyone but her for a long time before she finally said it out loud.

Della's puppies were ten weeks old at this time and they were beginning to go to their new homes, drawing that experience to a close. Lexie's pups were eight weeks old last Thursday. They will be getting spayed and neutered in the next week and begin going to their new homes the following week. Another summer of puppies is just about over. Lexie goes in to be spayed Monday morning, then we begin work on finding her a home. It will be easier to concentrate on Lexie once the puppies are adopted. I love Lexie but I have no plans to adopt her. She's a great girl and should have many excellent prospects. She's really not a candidate for our wonderful ragtag group of misfits, but she is welcome here as long as it takes to find her the really excellent home that she deserves.

Meanwhile, in the world of puppies . . .

I put together this puppy playstation from divers items that were just laying around the yard.

When the puppies first came out this morning Lexie started running circles around it,
trying to draw their attention to it as a place to play.

The pups will be interested in anything if Lexie is interested.

It's partly due to the morning sun, but their coats really look the same here.

There's a large bowl of water available to them with easy access,
but they seem to prefer hanging over the edge of the trough and splashing as they drink.

OMG the level of cuteness just keeps getting higher and higher! The pics of them on the slide was just too adorable!
