Bremo had to have been hurting, but he always smiles and was happy for the attention and treats. |
Cabell just loves the women at the vet's office and will let them do anything with him. |
Cabell and Bremo were both due for a vet visit. It was time for Cabell's vaccines and heartworm test (negative), and we did blood work as well because he's an old guy with bad kidneys.
Bremo was due to have this thyroid checked, and we did blood work as well to test his liver function because he most likely has liver cancer. On top of all that, Bremo was out in the pasture yesterday and hurt himself somehow. He was barely able to walk, and couldn't actually stand up fully when he came in yesterday. Today he's better but he's still shakey and he's got pain on his spine, probably a disc issue, that is interfering with the control and feeling of his rear end.
Bremo is happy to have his picture taken and always smiles for the camera. |
Cabell hates to have his picture taken and makes it very difficult. He will never hold his head and tail up for the camera and he tries to hide in the corner. |
It was a very geriatric day, but both boys are doing fine, Bremo enjoyed the treats and Cabell loved all the attention from the women, the vet and vet techs, who saw him.
Bremo's on bed rest, anti-inflammatory meds, and drugs for pain, although he doesn't actually seem to be in pain. Cabell's usual routine is pretty sedentary anyway, but I think the pasture romping for both of those guys will be extremely limited or non-existent from now on. They think they can still do everything they could when they were two years old, and they want to, but they can't.
We drained a good amount of the treat jar in the time we were there. |
