A rambling narrative about my life and my passion, dog rescue.

Roo Roo Rufus
Roo went to his new home last weekend and I went back today to finalize the adoption. He's settled in and happy, learning, generally being a dog in a good home, and isn't that a nice thing to be? I don't know if I was a dog in a past life or desire to be one in a future life, but I definitely feel some envy, at least for those who land well. Not having much control over their own destiny certainly sucks for many dogs, but those lucky ones like Roo, now Rufus, really have it made.

that's a happy doggie! Good for Rufus and good for you.
This is a blog about my life, which until recently largely revolved around a dog rescue operation. Recently retired, we have moved to France for the next chapter of our lives. I write mostly, but not exclusively, about dogs. I am gay, with a very understanding husband; liberal Democrat; Kansas native and long time Virginia resident. We rescued, fostered, and/or adopted well over a thousand dogs through multiple rescue organizations over the past 25 years, large breed dogs, e.g. German Shepherd Dogs, Great Danes, Rottweilers and mutts. Anyone who voted for or supports the orange TACO turd (or any elected Republican) will please take themselves out with the trash, you are not welcome here.
