Long Hot Weekend, Day 1

It's nice having a three day weekend, but the weather is making it hard to enjoy this one. There's a lot of dog tongue in most of these pictures, all of the outdoor pics, because that's just the kind of day it was. Until evening that is, when we had another thunderstorm, and enough rain to wash out gravel and form a gully in the driveway. The rain has just been ridiculous. Clay told me that we got over 14" of rain in August. August is supposed to be a dry month. Like I said, it's just ridiculous.

Maya will always go with me, but it was hard
to enjoy being out there today.
Coco is really getting integrated with the pack and I'm glad to see it. Harvey is too, and we saw Coco and Harvey playing together this evening. We've also seen Coco play with Maya and try to play with several of the others. Maya is pretty receptive to it since we've been confined indoors a lot lately, and Harvey was too.
Two miles was plenty for the 10 year old
Mercedes in this heat. She slowed down
in the last half mile.

I took the three girls for our regular two mile walk this morning, and then took Harvey and Theo out to the pasture to run. It's just too hot and miserable for the senior dogs. Everyone is waiting for Husky weather.

She may be heartworm positive, but young little Coco had
the most energy and enthusiasm for this hike of anyone.

Not a great group photo, but it was too hot and we were all too tired for me to try to arrange them.
Look at those low hanging tongues. They were glad to get back to the air conditioning in the van.

This was Harvey's first time in the pasture. He followed
Theo if Theo was doing anything, or he followed me as I
rode around on the mower.
Theo was excited to get out to the pasture, but less
so when he realized I wasn't playing ball.
