Easter Sadie

Sadie on the way to the airport this morning.
Her name is Sadie. She's about 8 years old. She was a stray from Spencer County, Kentucky but is a Virginia resident as of today. What is she? She's a dog. Looks like she's definitely part lab, probably part hound, maybe part golden. She impressed the shelter staff with her sweet disposition so Promises Animal Rescue agreed to take her and a volunteer pilot flew to Frankfurt, KY today and brought her to the Charlottesville airport where I met her late this afternoon.
In flight. Looks like she had
the entire row to herself.

Meeting me at the airport.

This was Sadie at the shelter--friendly,
sweet, and smiling.

Her pilot and his plane.

Tail wagging, but a nervous look.

Very yellow lab-like in build and color.

She was very thirsty and had a long drink from my water garden.

I am calling this the Flamingo Garden.

She met Maya and Arby in the front hall.

Getting better acquainted with Maya.

The Danish girls met her through the fence and I think we
will save a nose to nose meeting with them until tomorrow.
They can be a bit imposing and overbearing. I'd like to give
Sadie a chance to settle in a bit first. The same goes for the
rest of the shepherds.

Trooper has done this with so many dogs in the years he's
been here. He has always been a calming and reassuring force.
