All Danes great and small

Gigi and I went on a field trip today to meet another Great Dane, Patton.  Patton is a 10 month old deaf male.  He's all puppy.  Patton has no concept of the space he occupies, or his mass.  He runs, jumps, and plays with a puppy's typical abandon, crashing into anything and anyone who happens to be where he is going.  He's friendly and sweet and he tried desperately to get Gigi to play with him.  Gigi doesn't really know how to play and when she's away from home she feels insecure anyway.  She mostly wanted to stick by my side and she wanted me to make Patton disappear.

Patton is going to come stay with us for about 10 days starting on Friday.  We went over today just to get acquainted.  He will be fine.  Gigi may not play with him at first, but Trooper sure will.  He will be fun to have around.  I may need to bring a bigger crate into the house for him.

Gigi looks small next to him, and she is small compared to him, especially given the fact that he's only 10 months old.  But Gigi was big compared to the little Dane pup, Pegasus.  Pegasus is also deaf.  She's just adorable; you can't look at her without wanting to scoop her up in your arms, and I did.  Only Patton is coming to stay with us, however.  His mom is going on vacation and he's coming here in the hope that we can keep him active and busy.

Patton comes Friday, but Daphne arrived today.  She will be here for just over a week.  Daphne is a rottie and she's been here before.  She arrived just as it was getting dark this afternoon so I didn't get any good pictures of her, but I'll have a chance in the coming week.  Daphne is sweet and she knows the characters and the routine around here.  She's an easy one to have around, but she is accustomed to having her own person exclusively devoted to loving on her at all times.  She will have to share the attention around here.

OMG, Patton and Pegasus are an adorable pair! I've heard that white cats and white boxers are often deaf, maybe the same is true with Danes. Sounds you will have a busy holiday season!

I love the danes with their natural ears.
