Admissions and discharges

The hospital ward in my office has been busy.  The good news first: Ginger (left) was not only discharged from the ward, she went to a new home on Thursday.  A woman I had been emailing with came out to meet her early Thursday morning.  They hit it off.  I went to her place in the evening with Ginger to meet the husband, daughter, Pyr, and cows.  "Beautiful" falls far short in describing the home, property, and life this dog will have with them.  They work from home, spend a lot of time outdoors, and much of their life revolves around their dogs.  The Pyr was a little grumpy but was won over by her puppy playfulness.  The husband and daughter were easy.  The cows were as interested in her as she was in them.  She will learn to deal with them, just as she learned that she couldn't walk on water when she was checking out the pond.

Ranger (left) wouldn't eat again today, so he was admitted to the office hospital ward although he otherwise looks and acts normal.  I didn't have time to even try to feed anyone this evening, but I'll offer him some food again tomorrow and see if he's interested.  I did start him on antibiotics in case he's working on an infection.

Ryland (right) is back to carrying his tail up high and seems to feel fine.  He and Jeremy are sharing the office/hospital ward at night with Star and Ranger. Jeremy and Ry don't particularly need to come in, but they got used to it and they like it.  Jeremy has gotten rather adamant about it.

The one I'm concerned about is Star (left).  She had two bloody discharges on Thursday, and she didn't eat.  She started on antibiotics too, and I'm doing a lot of dog laundry.  She still acts normal, however, not sickly, and her incision is closed and looks good. Still, if I see any more of that we'll be doing an emergency vet run.

I had a dentist appointment midday, an afternoon visit from another potential adopter, mowing that needed to be done, technical problems with the work computer, and the evening home visit and adoption with Ginger.  Consequently, I finished work finally about 11:30 p.m. on Thursday night.

Phew, that is a lot of dogs in the hospital ward/ office. Hopefully everyone is back up on his/her paws in no time. Good thing you work from home.
Sorry to hear that there are more dogs with an up-set tummy. Hope is doing much better, but her GI system is impacted by a case of the nerves at times (e.g. when we walk on the leash). I did test my other dogs for parasites and everything came back negative (tested for Girardia as well).
Hope is doing great overall. We enjoy our daily walks in the Spring weather. Occasionally she will let us pet her and I am really pleased about that. When walking on her leash she is guarding a bit and does not care for other dogs on leashes. Yet she has become best buddies with the resident beagle gang and they play a lot.

Ginger is a beautiful dog, and I'm glad to hear she has quickly found a perfect home. Maybe Ranger is a little stressed being separated from Koa? I think you said they were closely bonded. I hope Star will be feeling better ASAP.

We are thrilled that Ginger found such a marvelous home so quickly! One of our never-ending sources of entertainment is to see how a new dog reacts to the cows in the back pasture behind our fence--usually with such barking and carrying on, but sometimes just the most puzzled looks! We get a kick out of it every time and especially in the spring when a new foster causes a mini stampede among the new batch of calves not much bigger than the dog is LOL!
