Long days, short walks

Obi's paw print in clay
Maya and I are resigned to just walking the two miles of roadway at the park for the summer. It's too damn hot to go very far and too many goddamn ticks to venture into the woods and grassy trails.

All of our walks are "Maya plus one" with the one rotating between all the others. With the days being so long, we are sometimes getting in a second walk late in the evening when the sun is down and temperature drops a little.

When in doubt, it's always smart to check with Maya.
Obi will be going to his new home July 4th.

This is not husky weather, but TJ still likes
to go. Fortunately he doesn't insist on going
every day or very far.

On a midday walk we take several breaks in the shade even
on a short two mile hike.

Maya and Trooper spotted a rabbit.

Trooper would go every time and every day.
Two miles is plenty for Trooper.

Maya on high alert.

Maya and Rugger, late Saturday evening.

Hooray for Obi! I hope he'll have a long and happy life with his new family.
