Commando

The shepherd from my last post about incoming dogs arrived Friday morning.  I picked him up from his home in Charlottesville.  His name is Commando.  He's been living in a small outdoor pen.  He hopped right into the crate in my van.  I brought him home and put him in a crate in the kitchen.  He's not housetrained and has never lived indoors, until now.  I let him meet Trooper, Max, and Maya from inside the crate, and then put him outdoors with Max and Maya.  He seems to be very good with other dogs.

He will be two years old in February.  He weighed in at 97 pounds today; he's bigger than he may appear in pictures, and he's very strong.  We stopped at the vet on the way home to drop off his records and get his weight.  I'd say he's a no-go with cats from what I saw from his meeting the cats in the lobby.  He seems to know some basic commands like sit and stay, which made it fairly easy to take pictures of him once we got home.

In other news, it looks like the newfies are coming this weekend, and Jasso is finally beginning to eat again, at least he's eating the chicken and rice I've been cooking for him.

He's a stunner! Thank you Brent ... you are an angel, you really are. I'd take them all too if they fell in my lap. I've only 2 now for the first time in about 15 years. I cried when I only had 2 puppy stockings to hang for Santa Paws.

Thank you for doing what you do! It's heartwarming to picture these dogs heading to such a great foster and then eventually a wonderful new home.
