Della's day

Today was Mothers Day, which means Della's day around here.

We also acknowledged Clay's mother of course. Clay's brother, Hugh, was in town but Clay was working, so we all went up to Patch brewery for lunch. As soon as we walked in there were people who wanted to meet Della and she absolutely loves that.

Patch has opened their indoor tasting room, which was perfect on this chilly weekend. It's a very nice, large, indoor space, with lots of tables. Della was the only dog at first, but then Gus showed up. Gus is a very nice dog who belongs to one of the owners. Della has met him before and she did again today, but her first reaction when she sees any new dog is to let out a big bark, announcing her presence and her claim to the space. Della's big bark really echoed in that building. I put the Gentle Leader on her, which doesn't prevent her from barking but it does establish an element of control that the leash alone does not. After that she was fine, no more barking, but she did try to con anyone and everyone into taking it off of her.

Later in the day I took Della up to Pleasant Grove for a our two mile road walk because I was sure the trails were muddy. There was a carnival in the process of setting up, which means we'll be avoiding that area for the next week or so until they are out of town again.

In honor of Mother's Day I've included pictures of each litter of pups and their moms that we've had in the past few years.

That dark circle in the grass is a large fairy ring.

Ok, here's the Mother's Day pictures:

This is Luna, with the three tiny Troopers.

It's a good feeling to know that all the mother dogs and their pups went to excellent homes. Happy Mother's Day indeed.
