Today I moved Rex over to the dog yard with Trooper, Jake, Hank, and Lana. He needs to learn to be a dog. He doesn't know how to interact with other dogs and he doesn't know how to play. He snarls when they do a normal dog greeting but they don't react to it because they seem to know he's still just a puppy in terms of development with inadequate social skills. He's a spinner and tail chaser too, and he's chewed his tail to the point that the hair is short but not to the point of self-mutilation. He does it when he's excited and doesn't know what else to do. I hope that having more space and canine companions will bring a stop to the tail chasing. He has big feet and thick legs and he mauls me when he jumps on me from behind, but a few cow kicks seem to have stopped that particular behavior. I hope he can recover and develop into a normal dog.

Rex grabbed the rope toy when I threw it, but he
didn't know what to do when Hank grabbed the other end |

Rex loved the water tank. |

He went after a stick,
that's the most normal dog thing he's done. |

You can see his chewed up tail here. |

Poor Rex! I hope that the rest of the gang can teach him how to be a normal doggie.
If anyone can help Rex learn how to romp and play, it's the Jacques School for Wayward Shepherds!
