Doc the bloodhound

Doc is only 22 months old, but in many ways he seems like he's even younger. His approach to other dogs is very submissive puppy-like. He likes to have someone with him, another dog, any other dog. He's always had a companion apparently and he doesn't like to be alone. We've had zero house training issues with him, and no problem with him peeing in the crate as he was reported to do.

His hunger strike ended the day of his surgery and now he cleans up his bowl like a big dog. He's all right being out in Daneland, with a companion, and he's also been fine being indoors with our dogs during the day. He finds someplace to lay and sometimes a chew toy to entertain himself. He's pretty easy going, which fits the bloodhound stereotype very well.

He hasn't yet developed a loud, deep baying howl, which is fine with me. That's something his eventual adopter can have to look forward to.

Here he is playing with Maya. She's got a chew toy, which are plentiful around the house, but of course he would like to have the one that she's got. He's respectful though, and he gets it in the end because she's more interested in what I'm doing.

This is a very puppy-like pounce.
Those ears really do fly.

Here's a group shot of all boys: Cosmo, Doc, Nemo, and Max.

This is the first time I had Doc and Nemo together and it didn't last very long.
Nemo got too aggressive with him even though he submitted like a puppy should.
Nemo doesn't know when to back off so I backed him off and out of the pasture.

This was Doc's first time in the pasture and he really enjoyed it.

It's not just the ears that flop, look at all that neck, and of course, the jowls.

Cosmo wouldn't come near me because I was riding on the mower.
When I turned off the engine he came right up to me.

Coming directly back into the house after the pasture run was a mistake.
I should have provided him with a bucket of water to drink outside.

He dips his whole face into the water.

Of course the ears go into the water too and then he shook his head.

I've never been happier to have a tile floor.

Who says jowls are unattractive? What a handsome boy Doc is!
