Romeo will get a bath before tomorrow's vet appointment |
Jennifer Brooks appeared in court today in Fluvanna County and left without her dogs. She cried, but her argument amounted to nothing more than a claim that she loved and needed them. It was not unlike a person who shoots his parents and then begs for mercy because he is an orphan.
Meanwhile, one of the puppies found in a box on her back porch is still at a vet's office, with his survival in doubt. The shelter director testified concerning the condition of the dogs, including one intact male that had so much mud and fecal matter encrusted on his testicles that the skin sloughed off the scrotum along with feces when he was being bathed by shelter volunteers.
I need a vet's help dealing with Maggie Mae's ear infection |
If the bitch fails to post bond for an appeal of today's ruling the dogs still in the shelter will be available for release in about 10 days. Apparently if she does appeal and manages to post the bond, the dogs will remain at the shelter until it is resolved, which could be another month.
Lilly was fine meeting the other dogs this morning. She's still a little shy, but is coming around more than Irene |
This woman is sick, no doubt, but she's an adult who refuses help. Her argument about moving to a new house that would be clean is bullshit. Court records reveal that she's involved in foreclosure proceedings. The dogs inside her home were living in conditions as abyssal as the dogs outdoors. This situation arose three years ago as well and she did nothing to improve it.
Big Boy on the move |
She should be in jail and she should never own another animal of any kind.
While she was in court today, I was working on my kennels at home and rearranging dogs. I have all five of the new shepherds together now, so they all have more space and more opportunity to socialize. They all seem to get along fine.
I have a vet appointment for Romeo and Maggie Mae tomorrow, after a visit to a self-service dog wash.

Jennifer Brooks should be ordered to repay the court costs, all the vet bills, the Fluvanna SPCA costs. She should go to jail. She should never be allowed to have another dog. If the puppy dies, there should be new charges her.
Thank you, Brent, for letting us know about yesterday.
